During the Detailing process your vehicle will be taken to the AW Collision detailing area for a thorough interior and exterior cleaning. Many vehicles suffer from problems such as unpleasant interior odors and dirty carpets, this is fixed during the interior cleaning process which involves vacuuming, glass cleaning and applying a dressing to vinyl within the vehicle to enhance the beauty and appearance of your automobile. The exterior detailing involves cleaning and brining a shine to the car’s paint, chrome trim, windows, wheels and even tires. We use a variety of the finest cleaning agents, including detergents, detail clay, waxes and polishes as well as a variety of applicators and special clothes to guarantee you receive your vehicle in pristine condition. Any minor imperfections in the new repair surface will be removed by polishing and buffing. Your vehicle then must pass a final rigorous inspection that verifies all work meets AW Collision’s standards, to ensure that you are receiving our best product. ​

Modern Car Construction

The thing that makes modern cars handle accidents so well is the unibody construction that car companies now use. Unibody construction means that the frame and the body of the car are one. That means that if there is damage to the body, usually there will also be damage to the frame. However, unibody frame damage is much easier to repair in modern vehicles than older vehicles.
This is because the frames on modern cars come in pieces. Even if one section of the frame is completely totaled, it doesn’t make the whole frame a total loss. Instead, the damaged section or sections of the frame can be replaced, leaving the undamaged sections of the frame untouched. This makes it a very economical repair process.

AW Collision has an excellent reputation we give every customer a written warranty to protect them.

AW Collision provides this lifetime warranty on all repairs relating to the current loss. It will apply to all items originally estimated — for as long as you own the vehicle. This warranty shall cover defects occurring under normal conditions. AW Collision warrants its paint for the life of the vehicle against: cracking, checking, loss of gloss caused by hazing, chalking or fading, peeling and blistering caused by moisture, provided the refinishing is done over original undamaged factory finishes or over original equipment manufacturer replacement parts. AW Collision reserves the right to correct any problems found with the repair, before paying to correct or replace any items found to be inferior in quality or workmanship. AW Collision will pay to correct or replace any item found to be inferior in quality or workmanship at no cost to you, our valued customer. Also, we will assist you in handling the claims of other manufacturer’s products installed by AW Collision. Specific additional stipulations pertain to the following four parts written warranty hereafter:

1. Metal Work: AW Collision provides a lifetime Written Warranty against defective workmanship to include welding and the application of materials utilized in making collision repairs against cracking, flaking, or deterioration. This shop will, at its sole option, repair and re-paint any metalwork warranted.
2. Painting, Stripes, and Decals: AW Collision offers a Lifetime Written Warranty on painting-related priming and paint work against solvent blistering, peeling, hazing, flaking, and cracking, and a Lifetime Warranty on the application and adhesion of decorative stripes and decals, excluding defects which are caused by extreme environmental conditions to which the vehicle may be exposed. This shop will at its sole discretion, re-prime, re-stripe, or re-decal the specific section or sections of the vehicle warranted hereby. Paint warranty is valid only when applied over original factory finishes that are free of factory defects.
3. Parts: AW Collision guarantees that parts or materials used by us are of top quality. Those parts or materials are subject to the guarantee of that supplier. We will assist in handling any claim under the supplier’s guarantee. We guarantee that used parts or parts other than original equipment manufactured parts were not used without authorization from you as noted on your repair order.
4. Mechanical Repairs: AW Collision provides a Lifetime Written Warranty on all mechanical repairs pertaining directly to original collision damage, excluding suspension, air conditioning, or other electrical assemblies or components. This shop will, as its sole option, re-repair any mechanical assembly or component warranted hereby. Specifically excluded are incidental costs, such as towing fees, car rental charges, travel expense, or assemblies and components which are not specifically covered by this written warranty, nor are consequential damages such as damage to other assemblies and components resulting from a defective part of installation of such part installed or repaired during the repair included in this warranty. This written warranty shall not be varied, supplemented, qualified, or interpreted by any prior course of dealings.

This warranty guarantees the work performed by AW Collision so long as said vehicle remains under the present ownership, items on the repair order such as, Sublet Work, or Sublet Labor, are subject to the guarantee of those suppliers. We guarantee that the parts used were manufactured by your original equipment manufacturer unless you were otherwise notified, and so noted on your repair order. Should any questions arise concerning this warranty, AW Collision will need to be informed of the nature of the problem, so it may be corrected. In the event of a claim this warranty must be presented with a copy of the corresponding repair order. No warranty work will be performed prior to a review by our management team. This warranty shall only apply if the defects occurred under normal driving conditions and not where any vehicle has been subjected to accidents, negligence, abuse, or misuse. Specifically excluded from this limited warranty are incidental costs, such as towing fees, car rental charges, travel expenses, rust through metal scratches, gravel or rock chips to paint, or assemblies and components which are not specifically covered by this written warranty, nor are consequential damages such as damage to other assemblies and components resulting from a defective part or installation of such part installed or repaired during the repair included in this written warranty. Other exclusions include: sublet work as listed on the repair order, tires, batteries, mechanical parts, wiper blades, oils, and air conditioning; however, these items may be covered by the respected manufacturer’s warranties. AW Collision shall not be responsible for loss of use, loss of time, inconvenience, towing, rental, lodging or loss of business, or any other incidental or consequential damages.

This Written Warranty shall be null and void if the repair is altered, adjusted, or tampered with by any person not authorized by AW Collision. This warranty is not transferable.

This stage of the repair process includes all the techniques necessary to restore the paint surface of the vehicle, for both sheet metal and plastic parts, including:

• Cut-in parts
• Surface preparation
• Color matching
• Color and Clear Coat
• Rub and Polish

Color matching the paint on your vehicle is both an art and an exacting science. AW Collision applies paint to the bare shell of the vehicle which is cured at temperatures up to 180-degrees–any hotter and damage will be done to the car’s mechanical, electrical and interior systems. The colors used by auto manufacturers may vary widely on the same models painted with the same color. Variations in shading and coloration depend on whether your car was painted at the beginning or end of an assembly line run of paint.

This is further complicated by the fact that most new cars are also painted with a “two-coat” or “tri-coat” paint process, where mica, pearl, or metallic materials are applied sequentially in the factory finish. These finishes often vary in appearance based on the angle from which they are viewed. For example, a green metallic paint can appear “teal colored” when looking at a straight or flat surface such as a hood, but nearly “black” when looking at a rounded surface such as a fender.

All of these factors make paint mixing, tinting, and blending in the collision repair process even more critical. To properly repair a minor dent of several square inches, an entire panel may need to be painted and the adjacent panels may need to be blended in order to achieve a precise color match. AW Collision specializes in using computer-controlled sensing devices that provide the refinish technician with a precise formula to match the paint color on a vehicle.
